Mule Days!

For those of you who don't know.....memorial weekend in Bishop is Mule Days. We have a week long festival for mules. Yep Bishop is officially the jack ass capitol of the world and proud of it! Austin got to see his first mule days parade, wait make that his first parade ever! today. He loved it! I didn't want to wake him up from his nap, so he only caught the last 30 min. or so of it but that was perfect. He just sat there with his mouth open pointing and talking to the mules and horses prancing by. He didn't get bored at all and was fascinated the whole time we were there. After the parade we walked over to the fair grounds and got to see some amazing Percheron horses that stood over 6 feet tall and weigh about 2200 pounds! Wow!! They were beautiful and Austin and me were both in awe of them. But the camera battery was dead, UUGGHHHH so I didn't get a picture but I might just have to go back tomorrow....if I get a chance. Austin is turning into quite the little walker. He hasn't taken his official "first steps" by himself yet but all he wants to do is stand up and walk along furniture and walk around holding momma or dada's hands. And boy, don't make him sit down again and crawl after he has been walking around cause he gets sooooo mad. It wouldn't surprise me if he was walking by his first birthday or very soon after. Speaking of birthday its 2 weeks from today!! Oh my goodness I can't believe its almost here! I can't believe this time last year I was still pregnant and miserably swollen with pitting edema and here he is almost a year already! I am so excited for his party! He is going to have an "under the sea" party with his cousin Taylie. We thought we might as well combine it this year because after the first one we will probably want to do their own parties. So yep its double baby party time!! We have all kinds of cute decorations and I'm praying the weather cooperates because the party is outside and at my house! Ekkk! I'm sure everything will turn out perfect! Hope everyone is starting to enjoy this beautiful spring!!!

Houston We Have a Tooth!

Austin is 10 1/2 months old and he has FINALLY decided to get a tooth! It hasn't popped all the way through but you can see and feel this little sharp point sticking up. You know what this means?......Momma doesn't have to make baby food for the rest of her life because he will eventually have teeth and can eat real food!! Yeehaw! The past couple of weeks have had a lot of firsts for us so try to keep up! Austin had his first haircut, yup my little baby is now a little boy with a clean cut neck line and everything. It is really neat because my boss Cyndi, gave me my first haircut when I was three, and now she gave Austin his first haircut....he was soooo good too! Didn't mind his haircut and wasn't even scared of the neck trimmers, I am a proud momma! Austin and Taylie had their first walk in a double stroller and LOVED it! They were both so good and enjoyed being next to each other. They would trade toys and hold each others hands and occasionally kick each others feet. It was really fun! Another first, Austin is done nursing! Especially now that the tooth is coming in, no more boobie for him! It wasn't even that hard to wean him either. I thought it would be a nightmare because he won't take a bottle and only wants water in his sippy cup, but he seemed fine with it. I was only nursing him about 3 times a day anyways, before each of his naps and before bed, so it was fairly easy to quit that. I just sit and rock him with his paci and put him in his bed and he is fine. Doesn't even seem like he misses it! And now the past couple of nights I haven't nursed him in the middle of the night. So yep we're done! I'm trying to get him to drink whole milk but no matter how much I dilute it he hates it, he just wants water! Oh well, we'll get there. More big news, we have a little boy who sleeps thru the night!! Woohooo!!! We finally had to bite the bullet and leave him in his bed to cry because he was waking up earlier and earlier in the night and wanting to sleep in bed with us. So the first night he wasn't so sure what was going on and why momma wouldn't go get him, so I babied him and kept going in every 15 minutes or so and laying him back down and soothing him back to sleep and he did allll right, not great but we made it through. But the second night, lord have mercy! I wasn't sure if either one of us would survive. He woke up at 10:30, cried off and on until 11:30, then woke up at 12:30 and cried off and on till 2:30 then woke up at 4:00.....by that point I put him in bed with us, I was exhausted and needed to sleep too! But the third night, was AMAZING! He didn't wake up until 2:30, rolled over and went right back to sleep until 6:30. And every night he has been doing so well....no more crying or nothing. If he wakes up he just finds his paci and goes back to sleep. What a big boy! Anyways, that is enough for now, hope you can understand my ramblings!!
